Renovating lawns in an established town
Hydroseeding in Litchfield Park is mostly renovation. The city covers only about 3.3 square miles, and most of it was settled long before the surrounding suburbs filled in. That usually means older lawns, established trees and existing irrigation, where the job is usually bringing a tired lawn back rather than starting from bare dirt.
A company town built on cotton
In 1916 Goodyear executive Paul Weeks Litchfield came to the Phoenix area to find land for long-staple cotton. Goodyear's Southwest Cotton Company bought about 36,000 acres in the Salt River Valley, including 5,000 acres around the present site, then called Litchfield Ranch, some for as little as 25 dollars an acre. The Postal Service approved the name Litchfield Park in 1926, and the Wigwam resort opened to the public in 1929.
Shade and older lawns
Mature trees in established neighborhoods cast shade that bermuda does not like. Thin lawns under trees are a common complaint. Overseeding with a more shade-tolerant mix, cutting back irrigation competition from tree roots where possible and topdressing bare spots can help. In deep shade, we will tell you honestly if groundcover or mulch would do better than grass.
Climate
Litchfield Park averages about 8.18 inches of precipitation a year over 33.5 days, and its record high is 125 degrees. Most of the rain comes in a few short storms, so steady irrigation is what keeps a renovated lawn alive through its first summer.
Small projects, done right
In a small, settled city, typical jobs are lawn repair, renovation after utility or pool work, or regrading a yard that has settled. Our grading crews handle the dirt work and trenching, and the hydroseed goes down once the soil is ready.

Litchfield Park Questions
After a backyard pool goes in, can the damaged lawn be brought back?
Yes. We regrade the disturbed area, add soil where needed and hydroseed to blend with the rest of the yard.
Grass will not grow under my big trees. Can you help?
We can overseed with a more shade-tolerant mix. In very deep shade, we may suggest groundcover instead.
My yard has settled and holds water. What do you do?
Regrade low spots so water drains, then reseed the disturbed area.
Is overseeding worth it on an older Litchfield Park lawn?
If the base grass is still alive, overseeding and topdressing are usually the most cost-effective fix.
